Our Story

A brewery rooted
in the soil

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery began with a simple conviction: that beer should taste like the place it's made. In 2011, a small team with a handful of fermentation tanks and a lot of ambition opened our doors in Richmond's former industrial corridor.

We draw from the same water that runs through the James River. We source hops and malt from growers we know by name. Our recipes are shaped by Richmond's seasons — the humid summers that call for crisp lagers, the crisp falls that demand darker stouts.

Today we brew over a dozen year-round and rotating taps, from the hop-forward Brutopia IPA to our barrel-aged Dark Lord stout — but the philosophy hasn't changed. We make beer we're proud to put our name on, and we make it here.

The current lineup

Our rotating selection changes with the seasons. Here's what we're pouring right now at the taproom.

Dark Lord

Our legendary barrel-aged imperial stout. Coffee, dark chocolate, and bourbon — layered, intense, and built for slow sipping. A Richmond cult classic.

Crisp, clean, and dangerously drinkable. Brewed for hot Richmond afternoons on the taproom patio. No fuss, no pretense — just perfect lager.

A resinous, pine-forward West Coast IPA with a clean bitter finish. Citra and Mosaic hops deliver grapefruit and cedar — classic, confident, and unapologetic.
